When the Tsunami hit his home town of Ishinomaki, Hideaki Akaiwa was at work. Realizing his wife and mother were trapped in their homes, he ignored the advice of professionals, found a wetsuit, and jumped right in. He spent days swimming through flooded, debris-filled streets searching for his wife and mother. After 3 days, he found them both alive.
